Randal and the QFG PCBs.

Sigh. I know, Tom. I'm like Howard in that I try to think the best of people first. Hopefully Howard agrees with that use of his judgement as a comparison.

I still think we should see what Randall says. If he says nothing, that says something too, as we all know.

True story: A hawk caught a pigeon in our back garden today, and ate it, literally, right next our bird feeders, in fact, right at the house. Close enough to get video (yes, we did). The point being, I don't like the pigeons, but it is still uncomfortable when something takes one out. Uncomfortable, but satisfying too.

Any chance that Randal might actually have tested the PCB designs? Did he ever build the circuits and write up some sensible docs?

I guess we´ll know.. there is a 2nd in December and January too.

Well, apart from the venting in here, there is no point in grinding his butt in public until his had his chance with the 2nd of Nov.

Intuition keeps telling me that Randal is actually an assistant to something a lot bigger- i.e. he's an apprentice, and a lot younger than he says. The '40 years of design experience' is probably his boss (who doesn't know of his great intentions!). Randal, I would imagine, is probably just a 'CAD monkey' (as they are known as in the profession Very Happy

), a CAD monkey with big ideas. He could be getting these boards from China, OTOH, he could just be getting these in the spare time when the CNC miller isn't being used (as mentioned before). The company he works with have probably got a PCB draftsperson too, or close contact with one- hence those nice looking mock-ups.

It's just a hunch- but I have this hunch because I meet these kinds of people everyday.

BTW, I think enough weight has been put into the PCB ordering thread for now, after all we shouldn't make it impossible for Randal to respond. Also Howard sent him a message, it's time to wait now a bit more I think.

I agree about the pidgeons, especially in big cities. There should be a constant push to remove pidgeons from densely populated areas and turn them into compost! They breed mites, they shit on everything, and that makes big cities smell even worse than they already do.

no, i don't think too that Randall is a bad guy.
when thinking how the US society is working,
and that taking pills of any kind is daily business there,
then all that post from Randal and his activitys gives a good picture what could be the situation there.( but not must.. )

i had also some contact per PMs.
He is not stupid and have some skills, also his Ideas makes it plausible that he really could be a product designer, or were one.
But it's obvious that there something wrong has happend.

If someone would do so with the goal of ripping off folks here, he would go a little bit another route,
but not that far away from that from Randal...

just bring thousand boards at once, and get all the money in advance.....

don't feel to be forced too much about that,
everybody can see the presence of you moderators at EM.
It's nice to see that you all care, but there's not really a responsability.

Hmm...really weird.
I mean, he's contributed a lot to discussions on the forum, with a lot of insight and so on, but then he's got all these project announcements that are all up in the air (qfg, sds3, keyboard, vca's etc). It's all still vapor as far as I know.
But he's spent an awful lot of time writing lengthy posts in countless threads for someone trying to rip people off, so I won´t put him in that category...yet.

But he better come up with a satisfying explanation soon, or I WILL ask my money back.
Are you and the other moderators planning anything or...?

Personally I think if Randal is 'guilty', I don't think we should ban him from here- I mean he could just come back again as 'someone else'. My perspective is that he knows what he is up to, your perspective Stein, I think, is that he's escaped from the funny farm (actually I do hold that idea to a degree anyway Laughing

), but here may be a good time to lay down a few rules (yes, I'm sorry....)......maybe not rules, but 'guidelines' on how members should present themselves when putting over these kind of entrepreneurial suggestions.

What do you think gang?
