He has played electro-music festivals in Cheltenham, PA, and Huguenot, NY, as well as NEEMFest in 2024 and 2026. Dimension Step
Ambient, Melodic, Percussive Atmospheres
Dimension Step is the synth-focused version of the Dorety Brothers. Their music is about moods and atmospheres, with some noise and melody, drawing sounds from standard synths, modular analog synths, digital piano, and electronic percussion. They range from ambient textures to synth leads and from syncopation to arpeggiation, improvising within a loose framework of tempo, key, mode, and time signature, and sometimes without tempo or time signature. Their influences include the spacier moments of YES, ELP, Genesis, Pink Floyd, and King Crimson, along with Tangerine Dream, Hawkwind, Kraftwerk, Eno, and Ozric Tentacles.
Karl Fury
Karl Fury is a multi-instrumentalist, improviser, composer, and instrument builder from central New Jersey. His music draws on rock, blues, jazz, folk, classical, electronic, and world music. He has played in bands, duos, and trios for more than 50 years, performing at festivals and venues along the East Coast. His current projects include the duos Beard Farm, Larry Roche, Quantum Bingo, and Smith and Fury, and the trio Sonic Foundry.
Clive Smith
Clive Smith, born in London, England, is a composer, performer, arranger, producer, synthesist, programmer, multi-instrumentalist, and sound designer. He holds an M.A. in composition from New York University and earned two platinum albums for his studio work with Hall and Oates and Freddie Jackson. He has also worked with Herbie Hancock, Yoko Ono, Sly Stone, George Clinton, Bootsy Collins, Ryuichi Sakamoto, and Malcolm McLaren, and co-wrote the music for the film Liquid Sky. He currently collaborates with Karl Fury on live electronic and electroacoustic atmospheric music. More at clivesmith.com.
