Re. the non activation - I have a stronger suspicion now that the email does not work.

I had sent Adis a mail re. his account being hijjacked, and sent a copy to myself - it never arrived.

Thanks Jan. I've been busy with life. My brother is hospitalized. I'll take a look at this.

As for banning accounts, I have been working on setting up blocks on ips and subnets that will last for various times like 1d 3d 7d 4w p(erminent). In the meantime, I guess we have to go as before. An account that is spam, is different. Good idea to contact the user via email. A better was would be to deactivate an account and give the user a chance to get in touch with us by return email, or email to admin, to let them change their password etc.

I tried registering as a new user and I found the error. I'll get that priority.

You are right, registration was broken during the switch. The new version of mysql - maria, had a sql format that the old phpbb didn't match. Also, the email works now, as far as I know, but gmail had us down as a bad reputation, so it is blocking mail to gmail, which probably is most of our users.

I went to the gmail postmaster service page and entered all of the correct information. Our dns records are kosher now. Still, it can take days for google to process that.

In the meantime I set the forum for admin approval of new accounts. That will give me visability into who tries to get accounts here.

The load average on the server remains low, so blocking ips isn't all that critical. I'm working on it though. I think that on an 8 core processor, a load average of 8 is full utilization. We are now typically at about .4 to .7. I could be wrong about that. I better verify...

I'm going to promote the icecast soon.

There are 6984 Guest users online .. that is a bit much .. but it must have been many more a while ago

Still after the switch over to the new server none managed to activate their account - not one single activated user.
