I am considering using Juce to make some vst audio plugins. I would like to know the ups and downs of using Juce. https://juce.com/

here is an example tutorial:
https://juce.com/tutorials/tutorial_synth_using_midi_input/

If anyone has any experience with that software, please chime in and tell me what i'm dealing with here so i don't get too wrapped up in it if there's a better option for me. I have been advised to go this route instead of downloading visual studio and going that route.

Any and all advice is appreciated. I am trying to make some very realistic and elaborate simulated circuits so i can make virtual "circuit bent" instruments if possible at some point.

I have no experience, but was considering it too - that tutorial may be a nice starter - but had to go back a bit 8)

I'd be using it on a mac btw. and my goal would be to modernize Wren a bit.

Let me try download some stuff first ..

edit : .. ok, did that and the first excercise works nicely with the computer keyboard .. i've made it attack and decay sloowly .. and hit some keys .. later added a bit of chorus for the stereo effect. I have nothing MIDI available currently .. so did not test that .. it finds the one midi in i have ok though.

And then i got distracted .. with editing that up .. and a.. o well 8)

that sounds cool i like the harmonic sounds. I am learning about the basics of music as well i never learned how to make music properly so with the coding it will all go hand in hand im sure

Cool I'm sure it will - there is a bit of a learning curve, and a lot to discover ..

The elements that I may need seem to all be there sofar .. be it not always in the form i'd used before .. but eh .. not that I can use those yet Laughing

Starting from scratch .. as in not using a toolkit .. did cost me a lot of time too in the past .. and would cost a lot more time to continue using the development environment I had ..
