RichardC64 and I were discussing the lack of responses to posts he has in the PAIA subforum compared to the general DIY subforum. Quite frankly, I didn't realize we had a PAIA subforum since I rarely stray from the DIY forum!

Anyway, I think he has a good point, especially since CGS and MFOS are on the DIY forum.

Thoughts?

I would not object a move, talked about it with Scott (G or JovianPyx for a moniker here right now) a bit and he thought it would not misfit DIY either. Re. the move I'll just do a majority vote (1.7 - 0 now for the move Wink ).

I have question though, a curiosity kind of thing ... an item that has lived here for a very long time, that has been discussed before, but not in while, and I wondered if maybe people's overall views on it had changed.

People seem to tend to say in "their corner" a bit on this forum, and that's something I think is a pity, almost all sections of the forum have great stuff in it. I'd like to see people go out a bit more here, yet somehow that's not what most people do.

Maybe it'll turn out that I have more than one question, but basically it would be, how could I help in making that people tune in to more "unusual" sections on the forums here?

Jan, I think you're right. I'm a perfect example. Initially, I would spend quite a long time exploring the whole forum, but overtime we seem to get in our ruts.

Hmmm...I kinda like how the Midibox forum has the column on the right that shows various latest posts regardless of subforum. I do have a tendency to follow those that catch my eye and do end up in subforums i normally do not peruse. Hope that helps.

Now others replying will have to vote on the PAIA move AND ways to get folks to look at other portions of the forum! Sorry to make everyone work! Wink

Moving PAiA to the DIY area makes perfect sense to me.

A couple of thoughts on getting people to explore a bit more:

I like Dan's idea of having highlights for recent threads that show up from other areas. Perhaps make this an option?

Might be a PITA to code, but how about different colors for the "new post" icon (instead of an orange taco bell, maybe green or blue or something).

Add a "random jump" button to the bottom of the page?

Anyway, just some quick thoughts.

I had not forgotten, but never found time.

The PAIA forum got moved to DIY.

Thanks for your ideas for improvements, but not sure I can find enough time to do actually do something with it right now, sorry for that.
