I've put up a new page on one of Thomas' older modules (circa 1981), the VCF-1. He actually gave me the schematics for it at the end of 2007, around the time of VCO-1 and VCA-1, but I got sidetracked before I ever did anything with it, and we all know how that goes.

VCF-1 is a very spare implementation of an OTA based State Variable VCF, but that doesn't mean it's by any stretch of the imagination a simple sounding filter; it really turned out to be a great little VCF on the breadboard with plenty of character. If you're in need of a compact, gnarly little VCF to go into a project, you might want to consider it.

Cheerios,
Scott

Whoa! The sound and the simplicity of that VCF! THANK YOU Thomas and Scott for your work! Sure - it's not a lot more than out of the datasheets but ... things from Thomas just have a wonderful character to them. Smile

K. Before I start a PCB for it (as I DO need filters), can I go just as you'd mentioned in the write-up and drop in a 13700 to replace the 2 x 3080's? (Considering other's buildings. I DO have a good # of 3080's but thinking of others as well as my future as well.) As long as the Gilbert diodes are left out. ?

Shall add the doing of a PCB layout for this, to my massively growing pile of things to do. WONDERFUL sound! Thanks for explaining the clip in detail Scott! Smile
