DIY drums forum? |

| Quote: | Hi Blue Hell--
As you may have noticed, the discussion of modular drum machines and analogue drum voice clones/modules has been really increasing over the past few months. I would really like to suggest a subforum of the DIY section be created for these discussions, for example "Modular Drum Machines", or something similar. I am happy to volunteer my attention as a moderator if one is needed.
Cheers,
Lars |

pro:
more tidiness in the forum
single threads would not drown that easy
cons: more overlap in the forum (where to put the TH clangora?)
the header gets bigger and bigger, in the end the main DIY-forums threads are moving to page 2
one forum more i have to go to and check for news
what about removing the main DIY forum entirely? just sub-forums? would that make sense? this is the actual situation on my screen anyways - i always have to scroll down and down for the threads...
bottom line:
i would say do it, you even have a volunteer moderator!
just my 2 pence _________________

I'm not sure about splitting off the drum circuits. In most cases, they're so close to "standard" synth circuits / voices that I think there's more benefit to be gained from the cross-polination of ideas when the synth threads and drum synth threads intermingle in a joyous cacaphonous orgy of... okay, I'm getting carried away there. Still, I think intermixing drum thread and regular synth threads works well. Just my $0.02.

DIY forums tend to be organised by designer (TH, Yves, Ray, Lunettas, etc) not by function (VCOs, filters, stomp boxes, etc). If there was a designer who only did drum machines, then that would fit what has been done so far, but I'd be worried that if there was a single drum machine forum it would split information from the various designer forums.

| I read from this that there is a tendency to say no to a diy drum forum, I'll inform Lars a bout this. |
