Joystick (HID) Control in ChucK

I acquired one of these complete with USB adapter today at the thrift store. $2.42, not bad! The problem is, I have no idea how to gather its' numbers for controlling stuff in ChucK and/or MaxMsp. Has anyone else experimented with any Microsoft 'sidewinder' products or could point me toward a pertinent web page or pdf?

Well, I found externals for MaxMsp but am still clueless about how to get at a device like this in ChucK. I apologize for the above picture posted of the joystick and don't expect many replies Smile

Those hid examples worked right out of the box, and they are FUN. I didn't realize the examples directory already had what I was looking for. Awesome.. this joystick even has a little disc for scratching (DJ) -type motions and possibilities. I think I'll be working on some code this afternoon.. Smile

Yeah, the examples dir is one of the best things to learning ChucK, nearly everything is there.

Here is a ChucK Washing Machine called the Dishwasher that I wrote recently. It should work with a 5-axis joystick that has two buttons, or you can modify the joystick section to work with your device. It takes your voice, gives it a cool sci-fi effect using a pitch shifter in feedback, and loops the voicie. Enjoy!
