I've thought of this for a long time. Would it be worthwhile to create a Yusynth sub forum or would that serve to dilute things too much? He's got a lot of designs going on now.

Ultimately, Yves' input would be the most critical here.

IMO that would make sense. he is publishing new layouts, designs and circuits all the time and i know there are many people building it.

a new subforum would help to structure/sort the content of the forum.

i know yves as a very gentle and helpful guy. actually he was the one who helped me in the first months of my DIY, when i was trying to build some EFM modules for a basic modular.

I was thinking the same. Indeed we should have a subforum for all things YuSynth! Very Happy

I agree. Yves is a member of the moderator's help forum, right? If he's good with it, I say we should go for it.

I had been wondering why we didn't already have one. Wasn't this asked before?

Hi guys

I have just seen this thread, and if you think it is meaningful to have a yusynth subforum, it's OK with me. Go ahead !

I think it would be good. Of course, the thing that I worry about is people may at first not know it exists - an announcement (like the current JH announcement) helps alleviate that, plus when one first goes to the DIY area, one sees the forums available at the top.

I think the nice thing about it is, if someone is having problems, they've got all of the Yusynth threads at their fingertips; plus others who've built before tend to congregate there and provide tips, etc.

Jan, if you want to create the forum and announcement, I can sift through all the relevant YuSynth threads and shadow them over to the new forum.

I'm wondering about one thing - say Yves or JH or Ray come out with something new and would like to make a general announcement - is it OK to post such an announcement in the main forum pointing to a thread in the sub-forum? I don't know if that's double-posting or not, but I think it would be advantageous to the subfora and also to the general readership as well. Not a sticky announcement (those tend to build up), but one that would be there long enough before it eventually shuffled off the first page.

On my yusynth screening action (1) Shocked Laughing I found :

Quote:
I bought a Sinclair ZX81 kit and started programming. This took me away from SDIY for about 25 years!

Hell, that exact same thing kept me out of SDIY for much longer Laughing I must say that with all the activity going on here I'm tempted though time and again ... but I'll be strong Cool

Ok, work to do ... a forum and a message they ordered.

- - - - - - -

(1) I did actually get past the front page, but it's a big site!

Yeah, we should have done it long ago. I'm up to page 30. I'm just keying off of the name "Yusynth", so I'm not sure if I'm getting everything.

I'm hampered by the fact that there are some interesting Yutopics, and I have to stop and read them.... Very Happy

I'm waiting for Yves to make a handcrafted clone of the UA726. I'm not sure what he'd call it, though..... Laughing
