Thanks, klagga!

I'm sooo glad I bought my Andy. I was very wary but every time I switch it on, I fall a bit more in love with it. It's so deep and it also looks bloody gorgeous. I did a track with it the other night, just jamming and got lost for an hour in it... Embarassed

Yeah, it´s an advanced synth for sure. Talk about deep, sometimes I feel like I´m staring down at an abyss when looking at it...

Honestly, I was doing some new patches on it the other night and before I knew it, it was 4am. Hours flew by. The oscillators... the filters... Shocked

I shall post some of my patches up when I've actually got to grips with the SysEx. Very Happy

Sadly, that's one of the big reasons I haven't spent any time with mine lately -- I've been working some pretty long hours at my day job, so I don't have more than about a half hour or so each day if I wanted to tweak the A6. And as you know, a half hour just isn't enough! Smile

Glad you're enjoying the new machine; hope we can hear some MP3's from you soon!

Russ

Deffo. I always start from the default prog, switch off the filters and then get going. I'm often a couple of hours before even switching the filters back on!

Well, I'm researching a patch librarian at the mo, when I've got all that sorted, I'll post up some mp3s and patches. I lurked on this forum for bloody ages before buying so it's only fair to give something back, innit? Very Happy

Hmmm... which makes me think it's worth posting a new thread...

Congrats to you man Cool

The A6 is 'one' amazing synth!!! Like you i waited for ages (since 2002...lol) and finally got one in 2006. It turned out to be a faulty unit with the tuning issues. I almost gave up wating for new A6's to come along, but finally got one (a fully working one) from the new batch last year. Totally blessed!

A6 = Fat, Warm, Organic, Dense, Thick, Thin, Cutting, Sharp, Fluid, phasey...list just goes on.

One thing though, i just wish the knobs were panel mounted like my ION synth, but i guess the price would be alot higher. Though i love how the LCD interacts with all the knobs, and you get dual control from the lcd pots and the main panel knobs.

So far, I haven't had any issues but I'm quite prepared for it to burst into flames or punch me or something. But then, I have a few old analogues and they can all be a bit temperamental. I'll just pretend the Andy was made in '80 Very Happy

I was showing it off to a mate of mine last night, fantastic jazz guitarist. Of course, he's got a great ear and he got seduced by the raw sound of it. He even had fun with the jazz guitar patch. Very Happy

Loads of (poly)synths can sound good with shedloads of fx on, very few when those are all switched off. Just the oscs in the A6 sound great, fx are icing rather than cake.

I'm still very much a newbie so I keep getting caught out, as in how, if you've been tweaking and you want to change patch, you have to select prog again as the up/down buttons now control whatever parameter is selected. Every time I do that, I'm like DOH. Embarassed

But I'm getting there. And before I go, I have to excitedly squeak this word: RIBBON! Laughing

"Jyoti" means 'light' doesn't it?

The Jyoti is also a dynamite Gurjarati vegetarian restaurant here in Birmingham!

Quote:
My partner and I went to Jyoti Vegetarian Restaurant for Sunday lunch. We are not vegetarians, but at that time we were temporarily abstaining from meat for a religious reason.

Although we did not have reservation, we were quickly led to one of the empty tables. As the place is rather small, if you want to make sure to be able to find a table, reservation is recommended.

The menu is unusual. You don’t find usual classifications like “Balti”, “Korma” or “Dopiaza”. Instead, if summarized very roughly, there are “Starters”, “Vegetarian Curries”, “Dhosa”, “Paneer” and “Specialties”.

For starter we ordered “Mixed Bhajiya (Large)” (3,70) to share. It consisted of 10 different kinds of fritters, accompanied by apple and tamarind sauces. They all tasted good and distinct. I am not sure of the ingredients, but reading their menu I would guess there were various kinds of bean flour, cassava, potatoes, vegetables and spices. This is really worth trying. For main course, my partner ordered “Vegetable Biryani” (6,65) and I chose “Mixed Vegetable Masala” (6,75). Frankly speaking, I was less impressed by these, because, although they tasted good, they did not differ much from the things I cook at home. What I liked the most was the curry sauce that came with the Biryani; tasted very fresh and kicky. Comparing to it, the Masala did not have its individuality.

To my surprise, Naan was not on the menu. If I think well, maybe there is nothing surprising; no meat, no Tandoori, no Naan. So I ordered one “Paratha” (1,55) without knowing what it was. It turned out to be a round pancake made from whole meal flour. It is difficult to describe, but I can give the best idea if I say it was a thick, heavy, and dry crepe. I did not like it, because it was too hard and difficult to swallow, but I don’t want to make any judgment on this item without having any criterion to say if it was normal or not. They serve, of course, chapattis and several types of rice, if you prefer.

For dessert we both had a “Masala Tea” (0,85) and a “Balfi” (0,50). One piece of “Balfi” (dried-milk sweet) is very tiny, but it is nice to have a small sweet after a big meal. We got really full. The total bill came up with 21,35.

Almost as tasty as an Andromeda eh? Cool

Interesting fact: Jyoti or Jyothi by itself is mostly a girls' name. I'm just a boy named Sue!

Well, I hope you find a good home for your Andy. I recently had to sell my 88-note Triton Extreme (to get the dosh towards a PC3X) and it was sad but I know the new owner absolutely loves it. So I don't feel so guilty. Very Happy

I hear ya. I'm not in need of the Andy and am moving towards a bit of a different aesthetic. I'm using the cash to buy a Nord Modular G2 and hopefully a bit towards a Moog Little Phatty Stage 2. I've got so many analog's and the Nord would offer a really nice package to control and manipulate my DIY stuff and my 2600 in a way the A6 can't. I will miss that sound but ... such is life Smile

Yep, yep - as much as I love my new A6, there's no such thing as a synth that will be perfect for everyone. Or in fact, any bit of gear. That's why I get perplexed at the OS / DAW / synth feuds. Cool

Ahh, I'd love to dive into a G2. Mebbe if I sell some more existing gear I'm not using enough! Very Happy
