I had a brief PM discussion with Juergen. He's said "go for it".

He asked me the pros and cons. I mentioned the disadvantage (before) in my view was that the subfora were hidden beneath the main forum, and one had to actually go and look for a subforum, in a manner of speaking. I haven't mentioned this, but listing the subfora at the top of the main DIY forum IMO works splendidly, and takes care of that concern - I find myself catching a lot more of the forums I'd generally missed before having that arrangement.

So, powers that be, could we create the forum? Also, an announcement (when it's ready) would be a good thing to post. And, when the JH topics are moved there, can we leave a "ghost" for each thread in the main DIY forum?

Cheerio,
Scott

"Jürgen Haible designs" or "Juergen Haible designs"?

He himself use the first spelling on his web site, so I guess we best copy that.

Ok, hereby you're all cordially invited to witness the opening of the new Jürgen Haible designs forum, I bring a toast to a long and flowering future.

I made it an administrative copy of the Thomas Henry forum, meaning all Janitors are moderators and Scott is mentioned as a moderator for the section. Oh and Randaleem can't edit his posts.

Fantastic!

Does the umlaut prevent it from appearing in alphabetical order in the list? Very Happy

Also, would you like me to begin moving JH threads to the forum?

What do you mean Scott ... is it not visible .. did I forget to do something down in the dungeons of admin land ... don't tell me I have to go in again ... please ?

When you feel like moving stuff or writing an intro, please do so. The idea to leave shadows was a good one IMO.

Oh, it appears. On my screen, nearly everything is in alphabetical order (except for the Moderator's forum, and JH's - the JH appears after "Thomas Henry" which appears after "Supercollider"). Not that it matters. It's just that, well, I have to cross myself three times, flip the lights on and off four times, and touch my doorknob twice everytime I bring up the page, until it's resolved that is... Laughing

Shadows - yes, that's the word. Ghosts, pppthhh.

I'll start moving. Please check for anything I may have missed.

Right, I already wondered what the system was .. I saw no logic grouping of subject categories, but it's alphabetic ... how vulgar Shocked Laughing

Anyway, I pulled Jürgen out of the shadows of Thomas right up into his comfy alpha bed.

Whew, now I can take off the nut cuffs. Laughing

I went back 20 pages to Feb 1st of last year, and I believe I got all the threads JH created. I mainly just scanned for his name. If there are any other threads any of you guys spot that should be there, either move it over or let me know and I will.

Cheerios!
Scott

Well, having a dedicated subforum for Jürgen's wondeful projects is definitely an excellent move.
