Society of Electro-Acoustic Music in the United States |
 |
|
I saw this announcement on the Analogue Heaven list from Peter Grenader <peter@buzzclick-music.com>. It looks like it might be of interest to some. | Quote: | Colleagues,
Pardon this brief off-topic plug. I've recently designed the new website
for The Society of Electro-Acoustic Music in the United States (SEAMUS). It
went live today and I think some of you will find it useful. Go to:
http://www.seamusonline.org
For those of you who may not have heard of it before , SEAMUS was founded in
20 years ago and has since grown into a thriving national organization of
over 500 members, making it the largest consortium of its kind in the world.
It promotes electro-acoustic music through its national conferences,
publications, web site, and CD series, and, each November, sponsors
Electro-Acoustic Music Month, an international celebration featuring
concerts organized by members throughout the world. The Society also
presents the SEAMUS Lifetime Achievement Award each year to acknowledge
those who have made major contributions to the field, with past awards going
to Vladimir Ussachevsky, Mort Subotnick, Milton Babbitt, Louis and Bebe
Barron, Robert Moog, and Don Buchla among others. SEAMUS has open membership
(anyone can join) and invites all who are interested to become a part of its
future. |

| Quote: | | The Society for Electro-Acoustic Music in the United States (SEAMUS) is a non-profit national organization of composers, performers, and teachers of electro-acoustic music representing every part of the country and virtually every musical style |
Does it mean you can only register if you are a resident of the U.S.A.?
anyway......

A quick visit to the join link on the SEAMUS site, says: | Quote: | | Membership in SEAMUS is open to all interested parties. | The membership form has a field for country where you fill in your address and states: | Quote: | | Membership is defined through the payment of dues to the Society... A member in good standing is one whose dues have been paid. | So it seems that anyone having the $35 annual dues may join. Reading further shows that there is a $10 surcharge for International Associates having an address outside the USA. (I knew there'd be a catch!) _________________ Bill Fox------------------|\-------------
