And another brand new video from Widespread Noise - this track is called "Feelings" and is an ambient noise piece from the album "Heathkit."
It's got sweeps with heavy echoes. The video footage is a grass fire. Just a little something to keep everyone entertained!

He'll be fine.
It's the best X.
There's never been an X like this one.
In fact, after this X, they are all Y's.
You can't un-X this. _________________ Noah Peterson

This is an ambient noise recording. The instrument is the Heathkit Square Wave Generator. Additional effects include delay and a Wah pedal. I love the pure tone of the Heathkit. There's nothing quite like a square wave. This was a lot of fun to make.
This particular track used some delay for extra fun. I found these short clips of Greek statues and thought the music and video paired quite well together. _________________ Noah Peterson

Here's a lovely little bit of synth pop.
This was a mess - so I dug it, cut it up, dropped it, stopped it, made the lines weave and out so different instruments get the feature - wood blocks, guitar, saxs, synths... and tightened it up to decent length. I think it came out great.
More to come for sure!

In the annals of history concerning the great literature of the world, I can assuredly assume without any proof or expertise at all that alliteration is absolutely the most awesome of writing techniques. If that makes no sense to you - I should suspect so. See?
But I digress, I find that the soul-wrenching agony of finding just the perfect phrasing of a song title to be too trifling tiresome of a tale to tell. But I venture forward in digression bringing the point back round again to the start of nowhere in finally stating that my neighbors had dogs.
Three Golden Retrievers. At the time I didn't know that was a red flag, for I knew little of the species of dogs. But being in Montana, one did get introduced to a variety of animals for a variety of reasons, including a variety of species of dogs.
Retrievers are a breed for "fetching" as it were. In Montana, a lot of that fetching usually involved birds. These were not those kinds of dogs. These were just pets. Three, large, hairy dogs.
Dogs? Nay.... Golden Retrievers. Generally they are a pleasant tempered happy dog that's easily excitable, loves to get revved up for play, and absolutely needs to get outdoors and run. Also easily trainable. These were those kind of dogs.
But the third one, Chucker, was especially excitable, and when he just couldn't contain his excitement anymore, he would pee. Immediately - wherever he was at. Inside or out. And Chucker got excited all the time. This led to a little bit of ostracizing from the friends that would go over as none of us wanted to get peed on. Which, of course, made poor pee-ready Chucker anxious and when he finally did get attention, the flood gates were opened and a veritable River Runs Through It of golden retriever pee would spew forth like the mighty Old Faithful geyser of Yellowstone National Park.
But all of this is to share a that I remember once, for some reason, we had to lift the dogs over the fence and not through the gate. Chucker had never experienced something like this in his life, and combined with a chase and what he could only assume was a big ol' human bear hug, he excitement level was extreme. Suffice to say, I received quite a dousing before finally getting him over the fence.
I didn't really care for that dog.
He was not a good boy.

New release "Yo Mommaz a Cow" from Widespread Noise Subject description: New release "Yo Mommaz a Cow" from Widespread Noise |

Widespread Noise - Yo Mommaz a Cow
The third "Yo Mommaz" release. These are endlessly funny to Nick and I. Why? Absurdity. Pure absurdity.
For me though, it's even more. This is a perfect example of what I like to call the "long ball."
Growing up in Billings, MT was an America Gothic and bucolic experience. It had all of the things one would expect of growing up as a bumpkin in the Alkali Creek Valley - varmits, ponds, frogs, hills, snakes, poison ivy, wild cats, porcupines, stories of crazy mountain men, hermits, and people who made the Unibomber seem pleasant and rational.
My brother Josh (maybe I changed his name, maybe I didn't...) whom we called "Crash" because of all the accidents he had, including crashing my parents cars (yes cars....two, one into the other) into each other inside the garage without starting either of them and backing one of my parents cars out of the garage (again, just pushing it out, not even starting it up) with the door open and bending the door as it hit the garage wall. Not even gonna bring up the pedestrian hit.
I digress.
Anyway, in a family of nerds, Josh was definitely king. Which is not exactly a royal title that came with privileges. But it was for sure earned with behaviors. One of these oft-repeated behaviors was toilet papering houses. This was decades before COVID and, as such, long before such waste of White Gold became an Eco-Crime. Josh's pack of nerd-let friends (let's call a couple of them Scott and Hin) would often partake in such mammoth waste.
One night I came quite late to an impressive site. My parents lawn (roughly 1/2 an acre) was exquisitely adorned with individual squares of of Bum Roll elegantly sporked (yes - the spoon/fork plastic utensil combo) in place in a near perfect checkboard pattern. Even in the dark of night in my drunken state I was awed by the presentation of this. This was special. I had to do something. I couldn't let this stand. And from there, I hit my first "long ball."
I picked up every square and spork that night. It took me well over an hour. I dumped out the garbage can, placed the paper and plastic treasure inside, and put all the garbage back on top. And off to bed I went.
I said nothing.
Monday came. I, of course, had to drive Josh to school as our father had taken Crash's license away as he was an unaffordable liability on the road.
We didn't hang out much as I was annoyed with him all the time and I'm sure he didn't like me too much either. But today, I went to his usual morning hang in the cafeteria. I sat near him so I could witness my own private comedy show. Sure enough, here comes Scotty and Hin (pronounced Heen - yes, he's Chinese - that's a whole 'nother story) and they have the proverbial $h!t-eating grin evident on many a young, prankster, redneck face. This, of course, made my day and it wasn't even 8am. They sat down with Crash, laughing, and said, hey, notice anything when you got home Saturday night? My brother, obtuse, looked puzzled and said, no. Scotty and Hin looked at each other confused. They tried another couple of questions, but you can't spring a trap that doesn't exist.
They didn't say what they did. That was the key element. They left, and my brother sat their, mildly confused and annoyed, but quickly forgot about it and went about his day.
I said nothing. For over 20 years every time I thought about that, it made me laugh.
I did finally tell him about it. We had a good laugh about it. I think I told Hin when I had lunch at his house after he moved back from China. I know I never told Scotty about it. I should though.
Anyway - that's "long ball." A comedic moment, kept quite for years and finally sprung when it's so far in the past it's barely able to be remembered.
But what has this to do with "Yo Mommaz?" I'm so glad I asked.... my parents were teachers. This means they had summers off. We had a station wagon and took epic vacations. Two weeks in Yellowstone every year to end summer, hiking, camping, trips to New York City, Florida, Los Angeles - we drove all over the Montana, Canada, and the U.S. doing epic family adventures. The neighbors called us the Griswolds.
On one of these adventures we were driving through some backwoods area, in a mountain glen and pasture. It was a country road. Dirt of course. And we were slowly making our way to whatever outdoor paradise lay ahead. We had driven though sheep herds, goats, and saw all manner of wildlife - it is Montana, everything is there. And at one point we were slowed to a near stop by a large herd of cattle.
My other brother Travis (maybe his real name, maybe it isn't) upon being startled by a particularly loud "Moo!!!" poked his head out of the back window and yelled out "Yo Mommaz a Cow!"
And here I present to you, one of my greatest "long balls" of all time "Yo Mommaz a Cow" dedicated to my dear brother Trav.
