Irising out of the bowels of Philadelphia come Color Is Luxury, a duo of longtime circuit benders Charles Cohen, artful manipulator of the Buchla easel and the artist who goes by the moniker hair_loss. Ripping the innards out of their respective electronic arsenals, this diminutive motley crew twist their varied sound palettes into corkscrew whorls of new shapes, sizes, and, yes, colors. Noise not noise, tonally consciously even when they go all atonal on us, Color Is Luxury are true sonic provocateurs sharing a rich aural history that blossoms before your very ears.

The Glass Bees define their multidisciplinary art project as a means to indeterminate ends. Begun as an improvisational music duo, the project has evolved into a malleable and adaptable platform for experimenting in sound and other media. Using electronics, guitar, keyboards, acoustic percussion, cello, computer-processed field recordings, and found objects, the Glass Bees spontaneously assemble soundscapes from colliding abstract loops, ambient noise, and sudden inspirations. The duo proudly proclaim: "We are not trained virtuosos. We make lots of musical mistakes, although we find that these missteps can often open doors into unforeseen territories. We, too, wonder if what we’re doing is a cop out, but prefer to think of it as a game that wears its rules on the box in 16-point type."
