M-Audio Midisport 4x4 and A6/Cubase |
 |
|
Hi all... just wondered if anyone else has run into this.
I recently bought an M-Audio MidiSport 4x4 to add some more midi ports
to my setup. If I run my A6 into it, recording midi data in Cubase Studio 4, Cubase will lock up if I send too much midi data (ribbon and pitch wheel simultaneously will cause it almost every time).
I have the Midi Thinning set to 2. I could try going to 1 or "Thin", but I like the resolution that 2 gives me. Going to "1" is a just-perceptible graininess, and I haven't tried "Thin".
I plugged the A6 into my Presonus Firebox's midi port, and it works just fine on Midi Thinning 2, so I believe I will simply leave it at that, and use the MidiSport for my less-midi-data-intensive synths for now.
Just wondered if anyone else has run into that, and if there is a better 4 or 5 port midi interface that can handle high midi data volume without crashing. MOTU Microlite?
I managed to take a day off work today, so I'm up in the studio working on a couple simple tracks. I have to say, the A6 and Blofeld are two great synths that sound great together!

| I have a Motu Fastlane and its been working flawlessly. Before i got the Motu I had an M-Audio Uno and I had nothing but problems with it. In my opinion M-Audio is to be avoided at all costs. |

I've had mixed results with M-Audio gear. I have a Radium 49 which is so-so (stuck notes, and the knobs don't send data very fast at all), and the Midisport 4x4 which is definitely weak in the stability department, but my wife's Oxygen8 v2 seems to be decent.
I doubt I'll be getting much M-audio equipment in the future though -- why risk it, with that track record?
Anyway, I managed to spend some good time in front of my music gear yesterday. I didn't finish the track I was working on, but I made some good progress. If I get a chance, I'll post an excerpt.
