I am not sure if this is the appropriate forum to post to but here goes:

I have decided to sell my A6. It's up on ebay right now and I thought I would make a little post here to let anyone interested know. I hate to see it go but I am changing my set up and I would love nothing more than my Andy to go to a good home. I know this is only my second post so ... hello again. This has been a great forum and I've been lurking for a bit around these parts Smile

here is the link and below is a photo of the andy.

Hello again Smile

I just got word that UPS had basically demolished the andromeda. The buyer told me that both end cheecks were completely fucked (read: broken) and that there are some pieces now rattling inside the synth. I don't understand how this could happen through shipping. I spent over 100 dollars packing that thing and shipping it. Does anyone know if alesis sells those end cheeks.

This does not make me want to use UPS at all....

Shit, that's awful, mate. I hope it's all covered by the insurance? Sad

Did the buyer agree to this? Otherwise you may be as fucked as your Andy. I had this problem once and ended up without a synth and $500. At least there was no neg feedback left. Now I always use insurance even if the cost comes out of my pocket.

I may have thought twice on that one as well. Have you and the buyer worked anything out?

i'm in touch with the buyer. basically everything i had to say in terms of shipping and all that was within the auction. i did mention that there are no returns and that insurance was up to 100 dollars so everything's on the table. that said, this makes me really angry. Apparently the electronics seem fine and the buyer said that it turns on and tunes and plays. he also said that he's going to open it up and remove the bits of plastic that are inside and then take it to a tech to see if he can get replacement end pieces. he seems intent on keeping it which is good. if he had wanted extra insurance he would have mentioned it as i re-checked my auction and it's listed how much insurance was offered. and i packed the andy really, really, really well so how this exactly happened is beyond me.

i'm really disappointed and so swamped with work for the university that to have to deal with this shit is beyond infuriating...

And really, why should you have to? If you packed it correctly, who would expect a courier to damage it so much?

You have my sympathy!

thanks mate. truthfully, in these kinds of situations i tend to put myself in the disadvantaged position and ask what it would be like if it was me on receiving end. i suppose this is one of those situations that is beyond any control. i'm just disappointed that someone paying as much as they did for this synth got it in such a fucked state...

the sidecaps break off easily, in my case immediately after getting the a6 out of the factorybox as i just lifted the synth by the sidecaps ( as i'm used to with lots of other synth's without ever encountering a problem.).they are a weak part of the construction.
probably the screw will be inside the a6 now.
sidecaps can be reordered at least a servicestation can, i took two pair to prevent it from happening again. on the other hand there are also people who can make wooden ones which might well be worth the investement
