Newbie in need of help? Subject description: Remixin |

Hi,
I'm wanting to remix a song byu a rock band youcodenameismilo.
I'm having difficulty remixing it and was wondering if anyone can shed some light on where I should start really?
Am i to just pick part of the songs to remix?
Ive heard remixes of rock songs and the beats seem to be more intense and more electro in parts, such as the killing in the name of by sebAstian remix.
The tune of the song is there but more grungy and dirty electro.
How do I keep the song sound the same but make the beats more dirty etc...
Appreciate ANY and ALL help thanks in advance.
Sorry if I have been a little brief but Im new to this. |

You seem to have a certain style in mind, some footsteps you'd like to follow. Maybe you could give us some hints as to what style that is? Not that I'd be any good to help you thereafter, but maybe others would |

Obviously getting your hands on the full set of audio files from a song project is best. That way you can mess with the various parts and layers any way you want. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

I'm really not knowledgeable in that particular area, but I should think getting the full set of audio files, like elektro80 says. To get those, I'd suggest just getting in touch with the band themselves or their representatives. If they're wary of giving you access to these files, you could maybe try and ask around locally for bands who might be up for entrusting their songs to a "mad scientist." It's a bit like what I had to go through when I was booking my own gigs - for every gig I got I had to accept at least five rejections.
